The photo that hints Aaron Rodgers is heading to the Steelers

Aaron Rodgers and Steelers safety DeShon Elliott appear to have put their past differences aside as they prepare for the upcoming NFL offseason. Elliott, who previously made waves with a bold comment on Instagram telling Rodgers to “Leave his ass at the retirement home” on February 12, was recently seen smiling alongside the veteran quarterback at a training facility. The photo, shared by Proactive SP-a performance training group that works with numerous NFL players-showed the two athletes seemingly bonding during their offseason preparations.

Rodgers, who is coming off two underwhelming seasons with the New York Jets and is set to become a free agent in 2025, looked focused and determined during the training session. Proactive SP captioned the Instagram post featuring the pair with a cheeky, “Who retires first? #WhatAreYouCapableOf,” adding fuel to ongoing speculation about Rodgers’ future in the league.

The Steelers have emerged as a strong contender for Rodgers’ services in 2025, with DraftKings Sportsbook listing Pittsburgh as the early favorite to land the former MVP. The Raiders are also in the mix, but NFL insider Peter King has hinted that Pittsburgh might be the ideal landing spot for Rodgers.

“If I were the Pittsburgh Steelers, knowing that I’ve got Cam Heyward, T.J. Watt – I got guys on defense with their expiration dates not long in the future – I would want to come in and try to get a quarterback who could make me competitive with Baltimore and Cincinnati in 2025. And that guy, to me, is Aaron Rodgers,” King said in January.

Could Aaron Rodgers join the Steelers in 2025?

The Steelers’ current quarterback situation has been less than stellar, with Russell Wilson and Justin Fields delivering average performances this past season. King also noted that Wilson may have “hit a wall,” prompting speculation that head coach Mike Tomlin could be exploring options to upgrade at quarterback. Rodgers’ potential move to Pittsburgh would not only rejuvenate their offense but also align perfectly with their win-now strategy, given their aging defensive core.

Interestingly, Elliott’s earlier social media jab at Rodgers came after reports surfaced that Pittsburgh was leading the race to sign the quarterback. Despite his “saucy remark,” Elliott now seems to have found common ground with Rodgers during their offseason training sessions. With both players known for their outspoken personalities, the newfound camaraderie might just be a sign of things to come for Rodgers and a potential future in Pittsburgh.
