While all six other AFC teams went to battle over the weekend in the Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs, the Kansas City Chiefs had the pleasure of resting at home and recovering both mentally and physically. That was the biggest perk of going all out during the regular season, accumulating a 15-2 record and earning a first round bye.
Getting that sole first seed and bye week makes the road to the Super Bowl way more accessible. Just one win and they are already in the AFC Championship game. They will surely like their odds, considering they are playing an unconvincing Houston Texans team that they already beat a few weeks ago. They can also feel great about their chances due to Patrick Mahomes having an insane amount of success in this round of the playoffs.

Mahomes has literally never lost in the Divisional Round, going a perfect 6-0 in his career in the second round of the playoffs. What’s more impressive are his counting stats and passer rating: he’s been impeccable.
Put another way: the Chiefs under Mahomes have made it to the AFC Championship in each of the past six seasons, and the Super Bowl in four of the last five. It’s almost a sure thing that Mahomes will win at least one playoff game, simply because he always has.
Anything can happen in any given game, but with the Chiefs coming off of a restful week and with historical precedence on their side, this will be a tall task for the Texans.
