This was announced by the National Football League on the morning of Wednesday, February 19, when it unveiled a new element in its list of international games, where the designated teams and the venues where they will be played are already known
Brazil is once again being considered, as is the Neo Quimica Arena, better known as Arena Corinthians in the city of Sao Paulo, for the first regular season game of the Los Angeles Chargers, who so far do not have an opponent, which will be revealed, along with the start time of the game when the full NFL schedule is unveiled.
Priority for the NFL, despite the fans
The international calendar is a priority for the NFL, but not so much for the fans who immediately questioned the decision. However, it is clear that the long-awaited expansion of the leagueis not stopping and continues to increase.
“After a successful and memorable first game in Brazil in 2024, we are delighted to confirm the league’s return to São Paulo with the Los Angeles Chargers as the designated team in what will be an incredible next chapter in the market,” said NFL Brazil general manager Luis Martinez
For his part, São Paulo Mayor Ricardo Nunes said: “We are proud to have hosted the first NFL game in Brazil’s history, here in our city. The NFL’s return in 2025 shows how prepared São Paulo is for major events and tourists from all over the world“.
Other international matches in the 2025 season
According to the NFL, from 2025, the league can schedule up to eight regular season games operated by the league internationally, so these regular season games in 2025 have already been confirmed:
- Two regular season games in London at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns as designated teams.
- A game in Berlin, Germany, at the Olympiastadion Berlin, with the Indianapolis Colts as the designated team.
- A game in Madrid, Spain, at the Bernabeu Stadium, home of Real Madrid C.F., with the Miami Dolphins.
- A first regular season game in Dublin, Ireland, with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- One at London’s Wembley Stadium with the Jacksonville Jaguars as the designated team.
- The NFL recently announced its first international regular season game for 2026, which will be held in Melbourne, Australia, with the Los Angeles Rams.
