The news Kike Hernandez has given to Los Angeles Dodgers fans that will change his life

It was a good weekend for Los Angeles Dodgers, who swept the San Diego Padres. Although Kike Hernandez, one of the fans’ favorite utility players, is not active in his rehabilitation process from a left elbow sprain, he has made an announcement that will shake the Dodgers community and the Puerto Rican himself: “KIKITO coming soon! #2026”

In a post on his Instagram social network, Kike has informed that together with his wife Mariana they are expecting the arrival of their baby. It is a happy moment for the couple and they have shared it with all the Los Angeles Dodgers fans. No doubt the current MLB champions miss one of their symbols on the field, but his recovery is on track and it is possible to see him in the postseason games and with the blessing of his baby on the way.

Kike Hernandez’s recovery is in full swing

Hernandez has been sidelined since early July and underwent multiple non-surgical procedures to address the injury. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts provided the latest update on Hernandez. The utility man will begin a rehab assignment this week. Initially, there were fears that Hernandez would not return for the rest of the season due to the elbow injury.

However, Roberts revealed earlier this month that his multifaceted player resumed his baseball activities and could return on September 1, when the roster expansion is complete. “I think he’s not in pain anymore, he played ball and he’s getting better. He’s practicing baseball now, but I still think it’s like September 1. I think it’s a bit of a vague date, but I think it’s about rehab and recovery,” said the Los Angeles Dodgers manager.

Kike Hernandez’s contribution with the Los Angeles Dodgers

The significance of Hernandez is his versatility, and that’s exactly why the Dodgers re-signed the fan favorite to a one-year deal last offseason. The Dodgers have missed Hernandez, as well as several other position players, such as Hyeseong Kim, Max Muncy and Tommy Edman. However, Los Angeles seems to have recovered after a bad run during July and August. The defending champions swept the San Diego Padres over the weekend after arriving at the first game of the series on Friday in second place in the division.

It was an impressive performance by the Dodgers this weekend, as the team played its best baseball of the past few weeks. The starters showed their solidity by allowing only three earned runs in 17 innings over the weekend. Clayton Kershaw pitched six brilliant innings to open the series on Friday, allowing just one. Blake Snell threw six scoreless innings on Saturday and Tyler Glasnow allowed two earned runs in five innings on Sunday.
