The New York Mets suffer again with the worst version of Juan Soto at the least opportune moment of the season

When the New York Mets signed Juan Soto to a record-breaking multi-million dollar contract, the least they expected was consistency, avoiding the typical slump where players go hitless and fall into a worrisome batting drought. That’s exactly what’s happening with the Dominican right now, and it’s not the first time.

In this scenario, MLB teams can only cross their fingers and hope the batter’s instinct reignites, as the season is reaching a point of no return where every team needs its best players. Carlos Mendoza must be pleading for this now.

The Mets are getting the worst version of Juan Soto again

After managing only a single in Sunday’s 12-4 loss to the San Francisco Giants, Soto has recorded just eight hits in 56 at-bats over the last 15 games, with only three extra-base hits in that span.

When the top of the lineup combined to produce 10 runs in Saturday’s victory, Juan Soto went unnoticed.

This may have Mets fans furious, as during his lone season with the New York Yankees, Soto showed consistency, establishing himself as one of the best hitters in all of MLB.

When we look at the underperformance of Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso, who have recently improved, the Mets’ poor results aren’t solely due to the inconsistency of their starting pitchers but also the offense, where Juan Soto bears some responsibility.

Carlos Mendoza must be the first to realize they need the best version of the Dominican to reach the postseason.

The Dominican player signed a record-breaking 15-year, $765 million contract with the New York Mets, making it the largest contract in Major League Baseball (MLB) history.
