There’s no doubt that New York Giants fans are now genuinely excited about the team’s future, after the immediate impact and, above all, the mindset that Jaxson Dart has shown in his first year as an NFL quarterback. Dart put up impressive numbers in the 12 starts he had with the Big Blue, particularly due to the energy shift he brought to an offense that had been stagnant.
A few years ago, fans were excited about Daniel Jones, who was selected in the first round of the 2019 Draft. Although expectations for him weren’t very high, his early starts showed flashes of a talented quarterback. However, the Duke product could not fully shine; coaching changes, injuries, and many other factors prevented him from succeeding.
Daniel Jones’ best year was 2022, Brian Daboll’s first season as Head Coach, when the team made the playoffs and even won a game in those rounds. That season earned Jones a four-year, $160 million contract. However, he was never the same afterward and was cut in 2024. Now, the franchise is led by Jaxson Dart.

Matt Nagy is the Giants’ new offensive coordinator
The Giants know they cannot make mistakes with Jaxson Dart’s development, because Daniel Jones looked very good with the Indianapolis Colts before suffering a serious injury last December. Last season, questions arose about whether the Giants mishandled Jones’ development; that cannot happen again with Dart.
The Giants hired Matt Nagy as their new offensive coordinator, and criticisms quickly followed. Marcus Spears made a harsh statement that will worry Giants fans: “[Matt Nagy’s] development of young quarterbacks have been awful,” said the ESPN analyst.
Matt Nagy’s biggest credential is his role in developing Patrick Mahomes in his early years, which earned him a Head Coach job with the Chicago Bears that didn’t last long. Outside of Mahomes, Nagy has worked with young quarterbacks like Mitchell Trubisky and Justin Fields, with poor results; today, Trubisky is a backup and Fields is clinging to the NFL, both with uncertain futures.
That’s why there are significant doubts about Matt Nagy as the Giants’ offensive coordinator. If he mismanages Jaxson Dart, it could prolong the agony of a franchise that, since winning the Super Bowl in 2012, has only made the playoffs twice. There is no margin for error for the Giants, and everyone in the organization knows it–especially the new Head Coach, John Harbaugh.
