The so-called NBA Board of Governors has discussed in Las Vegas the possible future expansion of the best basketball league in the world.

Adam Silver shared that this process of possible expansion will be led by two existing subcommittees of the league’s governors: the finance advisory committee, which has primary jurisdiction over expansion, and the audit and strategy committee, which focuses on financial aspects.
“We are now conducting this thorough analysis, something we were not prepared for before… As for the price and possible timing, it is too early to say. And again, I think that also presupposes the outcome of this analysis. It’s a really complex issue,” he said.
What does the NBA value when facing a team expansion?
For a possible expansion of franchises, the NBA has to evaluate the markets, the facilities, the long-term effects of dividing revenue among more teams and the impact of increasing the number of players.
Seattle, to resurrect the legendary Supersonics, could be one of the new NBA teams
The last time the NBA expanded its franchises was in 2004 with the Charlotte Hornets.
Previously, seven teams were added from 1988 to 1995.
At the heart of these inquiries is the possibility of bringing the NBA back to Seattle after the legendary Supersonics moved to Oklahoma City in 2008 to become the Thunder.
