The MLS team interested in signing Kevin De Bruyne and it’s not Inter Miami

Kevin De Bruyne, one of the best midfielders Manchester City has ever had, has decided to say goodbye after a decade with the Citizens. After announcing his departure from the Premier League team, several teams will be looking to secure his services, and one of them is in MLS.

The main US soccer league, together with the affiliated teams, seeks to strengthen its own championship with the arrival of great stars of world soccer. It only remains to be determined which team would be the right option for the arrival of the Belgian national team according to its budget and be attractive to the fans themselves.

Which MLS teams could sign Kevin De Bruyne?

The teams on the east coast of the United States would be the main option for the arrival of the 33-year-old. One of the franchises with the best chance are those located in New York City, both New York City FC and NY Red Bull.

NYCFC immediately entered the conversation. The Eastern Conference team joined MLS in 2015 as a joint venture between the New York Yankees and the City Football Group, so Manchester City share most of the shareholders and have strong connections between the managers. Therefore, his incorporation to the Big Apple team for the second half of 2025 is very palpable.

New York City FC’s renewal with MLS

With the opening of a new soccer-specific stadium in 2027, NYCFC is taking steps for its long-term future, and the arrival of De Bruyne could be the best way to highlight them. The European midfielder is a full-time tourist in different states of the United States, although there is one city in particular that is his favorite.

De Bruyne is passionate about the city of San Diego.“He’s a fantastic footballer and he loves this area. He comes here on vacation every year,” said San Diego sporting director Tyler Heaps. But will that be enough for San Diego FC to be a viable destination for the Belgian?

“I’ve had conversations with him, but I’ll tell you what: those salaries don’t fit our budget.”

The budget is in the capital of the world: New York.
