The mistake made by Luka Doncic’s ex-fiancée, Anamaria, that the Lakers star is using to win the legal battle

Luka Doncic is leveraging what he sees as a decisive legal misstep by his ex-fiancée Anamaria Goltes, arguing her decision to file in California could ultimately undermine her entire case and strengthen his position in an escalating custody dispute.

At the center of the disagreement is jurisdiction, with Doncic asserting that Goltes knowingly submitted her request for child support and legal fees in California despite both children living in Slovenia, creating what he claims is a fundamentally flawed legal foundation.

His legal team has emphasized that neither he nor his daughters are California residents, which is a key threshold issue in family law, and one that could invalidate Goltes‘ filing before the court even considers the substance of her claims.

Complicating matters further, Doncic points out that he had already initiated legal proceedings in Slovenia weeks earlier, covering custody and financial arrangements, reinforcing his argument that the matter is already being handled in the proper jurisdiction.

He argues that the California filing represents a “clear attempt to forum shop and avail herself of the generous amounts of child support for which California is well-known,” positioning the move as a tactical effort rather than a legally appropriate one.

Doncic also maintains that he already provides full financial support for their daughters, citing his substantial NBA earnings, and suggesting that the additional filing is unnecessary given his existing commitment to covering all expenses.

Away from courtrooms, the Los Angeles Lakers star has turned to basketball as a stabilizing force, noting that playing offers “some kind of peace,” allowing him to compartmentalize the dispute and remain locked in during games as Los Angeles target the NBA Finals.

Doncic destroys Miami Heat with 60-point show

That focus has translated directly into elite performances, most notably in a commanding outing against the Miami Heat, where Doncic erupted for 60 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 134-126 victory.

The scoring display matched one of the top performances of his career, as he took control after halftime, showcasing efficiency from the field, beyond the arc, and at the free-throw line while setting a new benchmark for opponents facing Miami.

Veteran teammate LeBron James contributed a triple-double in the same game, adding historical significance to the win, while Austin Reaves provided additional scoring support to maintain the Lakers‘ momentum.

Despite strong efforts from Miami players including Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro, the early lead they built proved unsustainable, as Doncic‘s offensive surge completely shifted the trajectory of the contest.

His recent run of form has been particularly notable, with multiple high-scoring games in quick succession, reflecting both his consistency and his ability to perform under pressure during a challenging period off the court.

Beyond basketball, a recent hospital visit also offered perspective, as Doncic shared that “you realize that you don’t really have problems in your life at all,” underscoring how external experiences have helped shape his mindset.
