With Edwin Diaz already showing excellent performances on the mound in 2025, the New York Mets could become completely dominant in MLB after completing the trade of a closer who will undoubtedly be of great help to them for the rest of the season.
The Mets are leaders in the National League East ahead of the Phillies, Marlins, Braves and Nationals. However, their 62 wins does not position them as high as it might seem in the overall standings, as they are sixth behind the Dodgers, Detroit, Blue Jays, Chicago and Brewers.
Ryan Helsley arrives at Mets after deal with Cardinals

The Mets began the restructuring of their bullpen in midseason last Friday with the acquisition of left-hander Gregory Soto from the Baltimore Orioles. The three veterans should bolster a relief corps that has been hampered by injuries and overuse over the past two months.
Tyler Rogers, the other player who arrived at the Mets from the Giants
The Mets also added right-handed submariner Tyler Rogers from the Giants to give their bullpen a different look. New York sends Triple-A Syracuse teammates – and once University of Tennessee teammates – Blade Tidwell and Drew Gilbert plus major league reliever Jose Butto to San Francisco in the trade.
Rogers has perhaps the most unique look in MLB. He is a true submarine reliever whose knuckles almost scrape the ground as he pitches. Rogers leads MLB with 53 appearances this season, as he has done three times before, including a high of 80 in 2021.
