After a couple of games, there have been no surprises regarding the record, and the New York Giants sit at 0-2 at the bottom of the NFC East, below the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders, and Dallas Cowboys. Unless there’s an upset, this will be the Giants’ position in 2025.
Offensively, the game against the Dallas Cowboys was spectacular, especially in the second half. Russell Wilson threw for 450 yards and three touchdown passes; however, it wasn’t enough, and in overtime, thanks to a spectacular Brandon Aubrey, they fell 40-37.
In Week 1, after a terrible game, Russell Wilson was criticized, and many immediately wanted him benched to hand the franchise keys to Jaxson Dart. But with Wilson’s performance in Week 2, the veteran at least survived another week. Still, the situation remains complicated for the historic former Seattle Seahawks quarterback.
Andrew Thomas is close to returning and could be the key to Jaxson Dart starting
The most important man in the Giants’ offense in recent years is undoubtedly Andrew Thomas. However, injuries have severely impacted his career, preventing consistency. Nevertheless, he remains part of the organization and seems poised to return soon, which would open the door for Jaxson Dart.
Andrew Thomas hasn’t played since Week 5 last year when he suffered a Lisfranc injury. This season, he already missed the first two weeks, but there appears to be light at the end of the tunnel. According to Brian Daboll: “He’ll take more reps than last week,” and he added, “I’d say he’ll take a good amount of reps today.”
So, by protecting the quarterback’s blind side, Andrew Thomas will be key for Jaxson Dart to take control of the team. And even if Russell Wilson has strong games, at some point-perhaps very soon-they’ll have to hand the franchise keys to the Ole Miss product.
