Jordan Jones, a 28-year-old former Indoor Football League standout, lost his life after trying to intervene when a woman was being assaulted outside a bar in Georgia, according to harrowing new 911 audio released by authorities.
The recordings detail the chaotic scene and the witness accounts that unfolded before his fatal shooting.
The incident occurred on March 7 outside the Saddle Bar in Acworth, Georgia, where Jones was working as part of the security team. Multiple callers can be heard describing the violent altercation that preceded the shooting.
One witness told dispatchers that Jones stepped in to stop the altercation, only to be shot as a result of his attempt to deescalate the violence.
“He walked into his car and said, ‘You know you can’t be beating up girls, you gotta go,’ and then buddy got in his car, pulled out a gun and shot him in the back,” a caller said in the 911 recording, explaining how the situation quickly turned from confrontation to tragedy.
Another frantic voice on the call urged the dispatcher to send help as the suspect fled the scene. “We need y’all here ASAP,” the caller screamed, underscoring the urgency and fear present during the incident.
Rushing to his aid
After the shooting, police and emergency responders arrived to find Jones suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia, where he later died from his injuries.
The suspect, identified as 25yearold Daniel Di Vonne Parsons, was arrested and charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and aggravated battery in connection with the case.
Law enforcement later revealed that surveillance video and witness statements supported the version of events in which Jones tried to protect the woman before being shot.
Jones had played college football and cultivated a notable reputation on the field before transitioning to a career in the Indoor Football League. At the time of his death, he was set to play for the Michigan Arsenal in the Arena Football One League for the upcoming season.

In the wake of his death, tributes poured in from the football community and beyond, honoring Jones as not only a talented athlete but also a person with courage and character.
The Indoor Football League released a statement expressing sorrow over his passing and highlighting the impact he had on teammates, coaches, and fans alike.
Friends and family gathered for a vigil in his memory, reflecting on his protective instincts and the tragic circumstances that led to his loss.
