The Fever spanked her team, but Angel Reese made history against Caitlin Clark for this reason

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese has etched her name in WNBA history, becoming the fastest player to reach 450 points and 450 rebounds. The second-year forward accomplished this milestone in just 35 games, tallying 474 points and 463 rebounds, a feat that underscores her dominance on the court. Despite the Sky’s 93-58 loss to the Indiana Fever in their season opener on the same day, Reese’s achievement highlights her growing impact in the league.

“Angel becomes the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 450+ PTS and 450+ REB,” ESPN BET posted on X, celebrating Reese’s historic pace. In the game against the Fever, Reese recorded a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds, though she struggled offensively, shooting 3-of-10 from the field and committing three turnovers.

Her rebounding prowess, however, continues to shine, building on her rookie season in 2024 where she averaged 13.6 points and 10.1 rebounds per game, establishing herself as a rebounding machine.

Reese’s milestone comes amidst a challenging start for the Sky, who were outplayed by the Fever’s Caitlin Clark, who posted a triple-double (20 points, 10 assists, 10 rebounds).

Reese rules the record books

The Sky’s 58 points marked their lowest in a season opener since 2016, reflecting their struggle against a Fever team that showcased a balanced attack with Aliyah Boston adding 14 points and eight rebounds. Reese’s record-breaking performance, however, offers a silver lining, as she continues to prove her value to a Sky team aiming to improve on their 13-27 record from last season.

Fans on X had mixed reactions to Reese’s achievement. Some celebrated her milestone, with one user posting, “Angel Reese breaking records already-future is bright!” Others, however, pointed out her struggles, with a user noting, “463 rebounds but only 474 points? Efficiency needs work.”

The Athletic reported earlier this month that the Sky cratered without Reese on the court in 2024, with their net rating dropping from plus-0.8 to minus-21.0 points per 100 possessions, emphasizing her importance to the team. As Reese continues her sophomore season, her record-setting pace solidifies her as one of the league’s most formidable forwards, balancing scoring and rebounding at a historic rate.
