Brian Schottenheimer is not a new name in Dallas, but he does represent a new hope to get back on track and return to prominence in the NFL. After two seasons as offensive coordinator, the strategist takes over as head coach with the commitment to return to the success that has eluded them in recent years, while his arrival marks a transition that relies on tactical continuity and a proven offensive mentality.

The reason for his rise in the team is the numbers that back him up, as the Cowboys have been the second-best offense in points scored over the past five seasons with Schottenheimer involved. This has positioned him as the perfect candidate to take over in Dallas and his first task will be to silence critics and prove his talent.

Cowboys’ offense among the best in the NFL

Over the past five years, Dallas has accumulated 2,251, just behind the Buffalo Bills, who have led the league with Josh Allen, while the Cowboys have managed to maintain their level on offense despite injuries and changes to the roster and this is where Brian Schottenheimer’s work comes in.

In his first season as offensive coordinator with the Lone Star team, the franchise finished as the league’s number one scoring team. His plan has been adapted to the available talent of the team, he has managed to enhance Dak Prescott’s ability and maintain a balanced offense that seeks to do the same in the upcoming campaign.

Brian Schottenheimer: Experience, results and offensive vision

Beyond the Cowboys’ numbers, Schottenheimer has a promising track record in the league, as his stints as offensive coordinator with the Jets, Rams and Seahawks saw him reach the playoffs with his game reading and tactical adjustments on the fly, which makes Dallas fans hopeful for a positive season.

Additionally, something that analysts consider important is that he knows the team, staff and culture of the team, which could make the difference for the team to function. Dallas begins its training camp in Oxnard, California, with a proven offense, an experienced QB and a new head coach looking to maximize his arsenal and give a season to match the Cowboys.
