The Eagles’ controversial decision for the start of the season

The Philadelphia Eagles, reigning Super Bowl champions, will not participate in the traditional flag-raising ceremony that usually precedes the first game of the season. Head coach Nick Sirianni confirmed the team’s decision on Tuesday, explaining that they were unaware that the event would take place and that their main focus is on the future and not on past achievements.

A winning mentality

The news broke before the first game of the 2025 NFL season, when the Eagles will take on the Dallas Cowboys. Despite last season’s victory, Sirianni and quarterback Jalen Hurts have made it clear that their mindset is focused on preparing for the tough schedule ahead, rather than celebrating last season. This mentality aligns with Hurts’ decision not to wear his Super Bowl ring.

“I didn’t know it was flag night. We’re not going out for that”, Nick Sirianni commented on the matter. The coach is focused on the present and future of the team rather than an achievement that is now part of the past.

A curious proposal

With the flag-raising controversy in full swing, an NFL analyst proposed a bold move for the start of the season

On the Good Morning Football program, analyst Kyle Brandt suggested that the Eagles run their famous “Tush Push” play on the first offensive play of the game. Despite the league’s attempts to ban this play, the NFL kept it legal.

The Eagles’ game against the Cowboys on Thursday will be an exciting start to the 2025 NFL season, with the eyes of the football world on every move the Philadelphia team makes.
