The Los Angeles Dodgers wrapped up a 2025 campaign with the World Series crown, their second in a row, amid a debate about the salary disparities that exist within MLB. But now it’s time to think about the future and another championship-at least that’s been the message right after winning it all.
The Dodgers are already thinking about 2026
Inside the organization, they’re aware they have plenty to improve, and it was general manager Brandon Gomes himself who revealed details about the Dodgers’ offseason plans.
“By being aggressive over the last couple offseasons, we do have a very, very good core in place,” Gomes said. “So it’s continuing to fine-tune and look at what the weaknesses on the roster are and try to address those … It’s being very targeted in who we go out and look to acquire. I think that holds true across the board, without many glaring holes.
The team’s needs are in left field and the bullpen. For most of 2025 they had Michael Conforto in the position, but he’ll become a free agent. Conforto hit below .200 in 2025.
Although the Dodgers bullpen performed perfectly for most of the season despite several injuries, in the end Dave Roberts had to improvise. The Dodgers had the third-worst ERA in the final month of the regular season-something very concerning if you want to compete in the playoffs.
“I think the mindset is still to approach the offseason and not have to go out and make big splashy trades at the deadline,” Gomes said. “But what that all looks like? Thankfully, we haven’t had a ton of time to dive in, but we’re gonna look to do that here over this week and the coming weeks.”
The Dodgers made two key additions at last season’s trade deadline, bringing in outfielder Alex Call and reliever Brock Stewart. However, Call ended up performing mainly as a rotation piece, while Stewart finished the year on the injured list.
Although those moves didn’t yield the expected results, the organization did manage to bolster its starting rotation after the 2024 campaign, which spared them from making adjustments in that department during 2025. Now the goal is to replicate that formula with the bullpen and outfield this offseason, in an effort to build the team that can lead them to a third straight World Series title.
