The Dodgers reveal the secret that motivates them to win the World Series

In the final stretch of the MLB postseason, the Los Angeles Dodgers are not only demonstrating their prowess on the diamond, but also an internal conviction that is pushing them to conquer the 2025 World Series.

Slugger Max Muncy, one of the team’s most emblematic figures, revealed that the desire to repeat the championship is not just a goal, but a necessity born of pride and confidence in the talent of the group.

“We don’t want to repeat, we need to do it”

During a post-game interview after Game 2 of the National League Championship Series against the Milwaukee Brewers, Muncy was clear: “It’s not that we want to repeat. It’s like, ‘Hey, we need to do it’… Because that’s how good we are“. These words reflect the competitive spirit that reigns in the Dodgers’ locker room, who are looking to retain the title they won in 2024.

Historic postseason record

In that same game, Muncy hit a 412-foot home run that broke the tie with Justin Turner and Corey Seager, setting a new franchise record with 14 home runs in the postseason. The hit was key to extending the lead to 3-1 and securing the 5-1 victory, putting the Dodgers up 2-0 in the series.

An October pillar

With 70 postseason games under his belt with the Dodgers, Muncy has established himself as one of the most consistent players in crunch time. “The most important thing about being a Dodger is knowing that you’re going to play meaningful games in October,” he said. In addition to his power at the plate, he holds the record for 60 walks in the playoffs, making him a constant threat to opposing pitchers.

A Frustrating Moment That Was Almost Historic

In Game 1, Muncy was inches away from hitting a grand slam, but the play ended in an unusual 8-6-2 double play. The ball bounced off the glove of outfielder Sal Frelick and did not cross the fence. “I definitely thought he caught it,” Muncy confessed, who then realized the ball was on the ground.

The motivation that drives the Dodgers

Beyond the numbers, what drives the Dodgers is a collective belief that they are made to win. With leaders like Muncy, the team is not only looking for the title, but to reaffirm its place as one of the most dominant franchises of the modern era.
