The Dodgers could turn heads by adding yet another superstar alongside Shohei Ohtani

The Los Angeles Dodgers could make another blockbuster move with a free agent who could take Dave Roberts‘ team to another level. However, this potential move could shake up the team’s plans for specific positions.

The Dodgers could target Alex Bregman

At least that’s what Jim Bowden of The Athletic reports, noting that the third baseman currently playing for the Boston Red Sox could be a potential target for the Dodgers this offseason.

Bregman, who spent his entire career with the Houston Astros prior to this season, is in his first year with the Red Sox, though he has an option in his contract to opt out after the 2026 season. Bowden suggests he is likely to do so in pursuit of a longer-term deal. The same report indicates that his primary choice as a free agent would be to stay with the Red Sox, but he would also fit with teams like the Philadelphia Phillies, New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers, Seattle Mariners, or New York Mets.

Alex Bregman, 31, was selected to the All-Star Game in 2025 for his third appearance, despite missing time early in the season due to a quad injury. The third baseman has become a vital piece in the Red Sox’s fight for an American League Wild Card spot.

In the current season, Bregman boasts an offensive line of .305/.387/.546, equating to an OPS of .933, the second-highest single-season mark of his career.

Bregman won two World Series with the Astros, including a controversial one in 2017 against the Dodgers, so his potential arrival could spark divided opinions in Los Angeles.
