The Dodgers are happy to be one step away from becoming the most hated team in MLB

In the world of sports, the teams that dominate are usually the ones with the most money and, at the same time, they are considered the “villains” of the discipline precisely because they are economically superior to the others. In MLB, that team could be the Dodgers, who earn that hatred because the description fits them and they also tend to be always on top.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have enthusiastically embraced the role of villain in the baseball world. After sweeping the Brewers and securing the 2025 National League title, the team is just four wins away from achieving its second consecutive World Series ring, a success that many attribute to its astronomical investment in talent, including the highest active payroll in MLB, something that rival fans do not like very much.

Dave Roberts doesn’t mind being the ‘villain’

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts echoed this sentiment of defiance after the latest victory. Referring to critics who accuse the franchise of “ruining baseball” with its unbridled spending, Roberts bluntly stated: “Before this season started, they said the Dodgers are ruining baseball. Let’s get four more wins and really ruin baseball.”

Although the Dodgers have not broken any league rules, their ability to accumulate elite talent has generated an intense mix of envy and resentment among small-market teams, who struggle to compete with the immense television revenue of the Los Angeles franchise. Nonetheless, the Dodgers not only ignore the complaints, but take pride in their strategy and current success, with an eye not only on this World Series, but also on the coming seasons.

Dodgers going for Kyle Tucker

Continuing along the lines of big investments, the Dodgers are already thinking about their next target and to achieve this they want to add new talent to their squad and one that is strongly rumored is Kyle Tucker.

According to information from Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Dodgers have their sights set on star outfielder Kyle Tucker, who will become one of the most coveted free agents of the winter after the World Series.

The signing would not be so easy because of money issues, however, it is known that the Dodgers can put a lot of money on the table, so there would be no problems.
