The dirtiest action in boxing: Fierro loses his head in the ring and kicks Cordero

What was supposed to be a triumphant return for Angel “Tashiro” Fierro ended in one of the most embarrassing episodes in recent boxing history. In just the third round of the fight against Abraham “Bombi” Cordero, the Tijuana native lost control and starred in an unusual moment, he kicked his opponent in the middle of the fight, which caused his immediate disqualification and generated a wave of criticism for his unsportsmanlike conduct.

The event held at the Auditorio Municipal in Tijuana was intended to mark Fierro’s return to the forefront of the super lightweight division after the cancellation of his rematch against Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz. However, his frustration was once again present and this time, he crossed the line of what is allowed in the ring.

Angel Fierro is disqualified for kicking Abraham Cordero

The moment of greatest tension came during the third round. After several exchanges with “Bombi” Cordero, Fierro began to show signs of frustration and after an intervention by the referee to separate them, the Tijuana native not only disobeyed instructions, but threw several punches out of time and ended up kicking his opponent in the left leg.

The incident prompted an immediate reaction from Cordero’s corner, who jumped into the ring to calm the situation. The referee, without hesitation, disqualified Fierro for unsportsmanlike conduct. The crowd responded with boos and on social media began to question whether the pugilist should be considered for professional fights in the short term or receive a sanction.

Fierro’s failed return marred by controversy and desperation

Fierro had not fought since February, when he lost by decision to Pitbull Cruz in Las Vegas. In July, the long-awaited rematch was canceled due to health problems and lack of weight, so this fight against Cordero was his chance for redemption. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a show of character turned into the darkest episode of his career.

In the early rounds, the fight had been competitive, with Fierro trying to impose his rhythm with the jab and pressure on the ropes, while Cordero responded with effective combinations and progressive dominance. However, at the beginning of the third round, a direct blow from Cordero ignited the spark of an excessive reaction from Fierro, who sealed his night with a kick out of all regulation.

What happened with Fierro serves as a reminder that bad decisions can erase years of effort. His disqualification not only cost him the fight and possibly his credibility as a contender in the super lightweight category.
