LeBron James provokes devotion wherever he goes. Sometimes, so much so that the tests of love – or madness – that some fans are willing to do for him border on the absurd.
The latest scene worthy of a script took place in Toronto, during the game between the Raptors and Lakers. In the middle of The King’s warm-up, a young couple caught the attention of the whole arena with a sign that left more than one person speechless. The boy, without any blush, sent a direct message to his girlfriend… and to his idol:
“I’ll leave my girlfriend for a picture with LeBron,” it read in big letters. And it was no joke. The fan himself reaffirmed it, assuring MD that he was willing to sacrifice his relationship if that was the requirement to get the coveted image with the ’23’. “If that’s what LeBron needs for a picture, that’s what LeBron will have,” he declared without batting an eyelid.
The most surprising thing was her reaction. No reproaches, no anger. Just resigned complicity. “My boyfriend leaving me? Well… he’s his idol. If he needs a picture, he’ll have to do whatever it takes,” she accepted with a laugh.
