The recent deaths of Ozzy Osbourne and Hulk Hogan have prompted Marcus Jordan to take a hard look at his life and led him to reach out to his stranged father, Michael Jordan as he finds an epiphany.
The 33-year-old shared an emotional Instagram post on Friday, July 25 revealing that the tragic news served as a wake-up call to him, full of emotional weight amid his struggles with addiction and distance from family.
“Life is short and it’s important to spend time with the people you love,” Marcus wrote on social media, seemingly calling for a chance to repair his fractured bond with his family.
He hasn’t been seen publicly with his legendary father since they attended the Super Bowl together and he confirmed he had reached out not only to the ex-Chicago Bulls star but also to his mother, Juanita Vanoy, and siblings Jeffrey, Jasmine, Victoria, and Ysabel.
This admission strongly suggests that communication within the family had broken down in recent months, if not longer, as he battles his own personal problems and quest for sobriety.
Marcus Jordan almost relapses after Ozzy Ozbourne and Hulk Hogan deaths
The deaths of Osbourne and Hogan, days apart, clearly left an emotional mark. In the same Instagram post, Marcus revealed he came close to relapsing as he wrote, “The grief… almost made me start drinking again.”
Still, he reported that he had maintained his sobriety for 107 days and he acknowledged his public missteps, particularly his February 2025 booking on a DUI charge as well as resisting arrest.
He also had possession of ketamine and his legal team later disclosed that he was battling substance and alcohol dependency. A request for a court-mandated pre-trial intervention program was made in March, aiming to help him get treatment.
Marcus was due to stand trial for the DUI charge on June 23 but a petition from his team saw the event rescheduled to September as he requested more time to pursue plea negotiations.
“Now it’s been so normalized to ‘fit’ a certain mold or into society…,” Marcus added, on a more positive note. “But I’ve been raised right and am thankful for the friends and family I have around me.”
