After six weeks of the 2025 NFL season, the Dallas Cowboys have competed in every game. Perhaps the Week 3 matchup against the Chicago Bears was the most one-sided, but aside from that, the team’s games have been dramatic-especially due to the high level Dak Prescott has shown, earning him consideration in some MVP conversations.
The Dallas Cowboys currently hold a 2-3-1 record, placing third in the NFC East. Their biggest strength has been the offense, averaging 387.5 yards per game, ranking first in the NFL. Much of this success is thanks to Dak Prescott, who has 1,617 passing yards, 13 touchdown passes, and only 3 interceptions.
The Cowboys’ biggest problem is their defense, which has been a real disaster: allowing 412 yards per game (last in the league) and 30.7 points per game (second to last). The situation is extremely difficult; essentially, the Cowboys must score on every possession to have a chance at winning.
With Micah Parsons, the Cowboys would be contenders
There’s no doubt that Micah Parsons’ absence has been a huge blow to the Cowboys’ defense, even though Jerry Jones continues to downplay it. One week before the season began, it was announced that Parsons-who had recorded 52.5 quarterback sacks in four years-was traded to the Green Bay Packers for two first-round draft picks.
The Dallas Cowboys would currently be Super Bowl contenders with Micah Parsons, according to insider Dianna Russini: “If the Dallas Cowboys don’t trade away Micah Parsons, they’re an NFC Super Bowl contender. They’re that different of a team with Micah Parsons in that unit because of what we’re seeing now.”
Parsons signed a $47 million per year contract, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in league history. So far, he hasn’t fully exploded statistically, with 11 tackles and 2.5 sacks, but his talent is exactly what the Cowboys are missing.
Not all is lost for the Cowboys. There’s still a long season ahead, and in the NFC East-which initially looked like it would be dominated by the Eagles and Commanders-things are currently more competitive. The division could become interesting, especially since the New York Giants, led by Jaxson Dart, appear ready to give teams headaches.
