The Dallas Cowboys and Micah Parsons reportedly agree to a Record-Breaking contract, marking a historic deal

One of the biggest storylines in NFL free agency appears to be reaching a crucial point. Micah Parsons, the defensive star of the Dallas Cowboys, has been seeking a contract that would undoubtedly reshape the NFL market.

Myles Garrett, the defensive star of the Cleveland Browns, recently signed a contract extension at the start of free agency, earning an average of $40 million per year, making him the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL. However, that record may not last long.

A few days ago, reports surfaced that Micah Parsons was seeking a record-breaking $200 million contract extension, which would surpass Garrett’s deal.

Cowboys and Micah Parsons have reportedly agreed on a new contract

The Dallas Cowboys have reportedly offered a record-setting contract to Micah Parsons, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL, according to Clarence Hill of All City DLLS, an expert on the team.

Hill reported that Parsons and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had “reached an agreement.” However, a potential issue is that Parsons’ agent, David Mulugheta, was not involved in the negotiations.

For the deal to go through, Mulugheta’s approval would be necessary, but he and the Cowboys have not had any discussions since the NFL Scouting Combine. Even so, it seems this saga is approaching its final chapters.

Despite the lack of agent approval-or perhaps even knowledge of the deal-if Parsons is satisfied with the agreement, his signature could be imminent.

Micah Parsons’ impressive stats

Since being drafted in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Micah Parsons has delivered outstanding performances for the Dallas Cowboys. The Penn State product has recorded 52.5 sacks and 256 tackles in his NFL career. He has been selected to the Pro Bowl four times, named an All-Pro three times, and won Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2021.
