A trade proposal for the NFL Draft has the Dallas Cowboys in the running to acquire wide receiver Tyreek Hill, in a move that would cement them as Super Bowl contenders, totalprosports.com reported.
Tyreek Hill has dropped hints about his desire to leave the Miami Dolphins, starting with his memorable “I’m outta here, bro” to reporters after the team’s final regular season game against the New York Jets.
All this without mentioning his interesting activity on social media last week with a tweet that can be interpreted in many ways:
Hill’s declining numbers with Miami in 2024
Hill, 31, is under contract with Miami until 2026, but he is coming off one of the most disappointing seasons of his career.
He caught 81 passes for 959 yards and six touchdowns, a significant drop in production after leading the NFL with 1,799 yards and 13 touchdown catches and 119 receptions in 2023.
Moe Moton of Bleacher Report recently proposed five shocking draft day trades involving Miami’s star receiver.
In one scenario, the Dolphins would trade Hill and the No. 156 pick to the Cowboys in exchange for the No. 44 pick and a 2026 fourth-round pick:
“Cowboys owner Jerry Jones could make a bold move to help his most valuable player in the short term. Prescott is coming off a season shortened by a hamstring injury, and could bounce back in a big way with a dynamic receiving duo that includes CeeDee Lamb and Hil.
Last year, Jalen Tolbert stood out as the Cowboys’ No. 2 receiver with backup quarterback Cooper Rush as the starter for eight games, catching 49 passes for 610 yards and seven touchdowns.
“However, Tolbert is not on the same level as Hill, who remains a dynamic threat. With this addition, Prescott can reach MVP-worthy passing numbers and be the heavy favorite to win the 2025 Comeback Player of the Year award.”
Hill is a perfect complement to CeeDee Lamb
The Cowboys have been searching for a capable No. 2 receiver since they traded Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns in 2022. Michael Gallup and Brandin Cooks never fulfilled the role and, as Moton noted, Jalen Tolbert is not a game-changer like Hill.
Jerry Jones talked about going all-in a year ago, but he never delivered on his promise. However, acquiring a player of Tyreek Hill‘s caliber would certainly qualify as an all-in gamble. Even if Hill is no longer at his best, he would still be a decisive number two receiver to be a great complement to CeeDee Lamb.
And with the Cowboys boasting an explosive offense under Dak Prescott, there’s no reason why Hill can’t try to surpass 1,000 yards in a season once again.
