The confession by Troy Aikman about the ambitious position that could pull him away from television

The legendary quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys during the 1990s, Troy Aikman, when he won three Super Bowl rings in 1992, 1993 and 1995 before retiring in 2001, greatly enjoys his work as a television analyst in the broadcast booth during NFL games.

Recently, on the podcast Rodeo Time, he revealed that one of his wishes after retiring from the NFL as a player was to join a franchise in an executive role, similar to what John Elway once did with the Denver Broncos.

However, at that moment in his life, he was unable to pursue that path because he went through a divorce, and his daughters were still very young. He decided to prioritize staying close to them in order to enjoy their childhood and their teenage years.

Now that his daughters are older, that possibility has once again returned to his mind. In fact, he currently serves as an external advisor to the Miami Dolphins, helping the organization during the process of selecting both a new general manager and their new head coach.

His experience as a former player and his deep understanding of the game made his perspective valuable during those important decisions for the franchise.

Troy Aikman wants to continue collaborating with the Miami Dolphins

For now, the former Dallas player and member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame continues working as an analyst for ESPN, a role that he truly enjoys. Even so, he does not rule out the possibility that one day he could step away from broadcasting and move into the front office of an NFL franchise.

I’m gonna continue to work with [the Dolphins] in some capacity and so that’s kind of scratched whatever itch I’ve had when it came to being in the front office but I’m very blessed.”… “I continue to enjoy what I’m doing broadcasting, love who I work with – I’ve been working with Joe going on our 25th year together next year – that just doesn’t happen in this business … It’s been awesome. But life’s good right now.

It is worth remembering that he played an important role in assisting the Dolphins during their search for a new head coach, offering guidance throughout the process. His involvement was viewed positively within the organization, which could leave the door open for him to return in a more formal capacity in the future.

For Aikman, if he eventually decides to pursue the type of position that continues to attract his interest, the Dolphins would be an ideal fit. He already maintains a strong relationship with the team’s ownership and has become familiar with the way the franchise operates internally.

For now, he remains focused on his broadcasting responsibilities, a career that has allowed him to stay close to the game he loves while sharing his insight with viewers across the country.

Whether he ultimately transitions into a front-office role or continues thriving in television will likely depend on timing and the right opportunity presenting itself in the coming years.
