The Cleveland Browns are going after Arch Manning, which means the door of opportunity is completely closed for Shedeur Sanders

There’s no doubt that Shedeur Sanders has drawn all the attention during the NFL preseason. In fact, even before the Draft, everything revolved around the former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback – whether he had the necessary talent, whether he wasn’t really NFL material – a lot was said.

What’s certain is that he was projected to be a first-round pick, but surprisingly he ended up falling in the Draft, with five quarterbacks taken before him. It wasn’t until the fifth round that the Cleveland Browns selected him, but two rounds earlier the same team had already picked Dillon Gabriel.

Before the Draft, the Browns signed Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco in free agency, so Shedeur Sanders entered Browns camp as QB4 and hasn’t moved from there, despite strong practices and an excellent preseason game against the Carolina Panthers.

The Browns are projected to draft Arch Manning

It’s worth remembering that the Cleveland Browns will have two first-round picks next year – their own and the one they acquired from the Jacksonville Jaguars, who selected Travis Hunter. That gives Kevin Stefanski’s team strong draft capital for next year.

Field Yates, in an article on ESPN, projected Arch Manning as the first overall pick for the Cleveland Browns in 2026.

“Yes, Archie Manning recently stated that his grandson will stay at Texas for at least two seasons, a belief many in the scouting community share. But ultimately, Arch is eligible to declare in 2026, and if he performs up to his potential, he might just have to consider the NFL leap in this coming draft class. So I’m including him … for now.

Manning has a very good build, throws with accuracy to all levels of the field and shows solid movement traits. He’s a different QB than his uncles Peyton and Eli were in that he is a threat with his legs. He is inexperienced and needs to add more weight to his 6-foot-4 frame, but it’s easy to see his immense ceiling. I know the Browns just drafted two passers this year, but if they are picking first overall next year, then yes, they’ll be taking a quarterback.”

There’s still a long way to go, but projections for the Browns’ results are very low. Even though Joe Flacco has already been named the starting quarterback, there are plenty of doubts within the organization, and if Arch Manning declares, they could very well be in a position to take him.
