The Chiefs turn to social media to make an important request on behalf of Travis Kelce

The Kansas City Chiefs enter the finale at 6-10, out of the postseason for the first time since 2014.

For Travis Kelce, now 36 and nearing the end of his contract, the timing has fueled widespread speculation that this could be the final appearance of a career that has defined an era in Kansas City.

While Kelce has not publicly addressed his plans, the possibility of retirement has lingered throughout the second half of the season.

If this does turn out to be the closing chapter, Kelce did not drift quietly toward it. Even as the Chiefs struggled, he remained one of the league’s most reliable tight ends.

The production only reinforced a résumé that already stands among the best at the position. Kelce is a 12-time Pro Bowler, a four-time All-Pro, and a three-time Super Bowl champion.

For more than a decade, he has been the focal point of opposing defenses and a constant presence in the league’s biggest moments.

Chiefs rally fans around Kelce’s work off the field

As the season winds down, the organization has also turned attention to the impact Kelce has made beyond football.

On Thursday, the Chiefs used social media to encourage fans to support Kelce in the Walter PaytonNFL Man of the Year Charity Challenge.

“A pillar in our community. Vote for Travis for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Charity Challenge to help him win money for his charity, @87running at the link in our bio!” the team posted on Instagram.

Fan voting for the Charity Challenge ends Monday, prompting the Chiefs to renew their call as the deadline approaches. The initiative allows fans to vote among the 32 team nominees for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, which “recognizes an NFL player for his excellence on and off the field.”

The player who leads the fan vote receives $35,000 for their chosen charity. As of Wednesday, Kelce was leading the voting after four weeks, positioning his foundation to receive additional funding.

This marks the third time the Chiefs have nominated Kelce for the honor, following selections in 2020 and 2024. While he has not won the overall award, his repeated nominations reflect the consistency of his community involvement through the 87 & Running foundation.
