It was recently reported that legendary basketball player and now businessman Michael Jordan had to sell his famous home in the Chicago area for a much lower price than it is supposedly worth, as it has nine bedrooms and 19 bathrooms (15 full), a putting green, a tennis court, a smoking room and a regulation basketball court.
The sale was a bargain
The former NBAsuperstar with the Chicago Bulls sold his 56,000-square-foot mansion in Highland Park for $9.5 million, which was valued at $29 million and was ‘reduced’ by Jordan himself, according to the Lincoln Journal Star.
The news then was about the sale of the property and its low market value, but today it is because the name of the buyer of such a prized property has already been revealed. He is a man from Nebraska named John Cooper, a partner in the real estate firm HAN Capital, where he has worked for 12 years.
Cooper, who is married with three children and has lived in Chicago for a decade, celebrated his 42nd birthday at the property with a party that included a basketball game and a round of golf with a group of close friends.
What will happen to Michael Jordan’s house?
“I remember seeing the house for sale and thinking how great it would be for the person who buys the house. I’m a big fan of Jordan’s game. My favorite player to watch was always him. He made shots that seemed impossible and he also did it on defense,” Cooper told the aforementioned media outlet.
The brand new buyer added that the house will not be his permanent residence and that the flashy gate with the huge number “23” that Jordan used during his sporting career will remain intact, although he said he has some plans for it: “I will announce some exciting plans for the property in January. I have no major renovation plans. I will honor the legacy of the property. This place is great as it is“.
