The breakup between Stefon Diggs and Cardi B may have happened before the Super Bowl: did that affect the Patriots player?

Stefon Diggs arrived at Super Bowl LX expecting the moment to match his reputation, but the game quickly slipped away from him.

As the New England Patriots were beaten 29-13 by the Seattle Seahawks, Diggs‘ first appearance on football’s grandest stage became defined not by production, but by absence.

For a receiver known for demanding the spotlight, Diggs barely registered. He finished the night with minimal involvement, failing to emerge as a difference maker while the Patriots offence stalled.

What should have been a career milestone instead became a night that raised serious questions about whether his time in Foxborough extends beyond this season.

The defining image of Diggs‘ Super Bowl did not involve a catch. After a brief exchange of physicality, Seattle Seahawks defensive back Josh Jobe struck Diggs in the head following some facemask jostling.

The moment drew attention largely because there was so little else to analyse from Diggs‘ performance, turning a flash of confrontation into the most memorable sequence of his night.

That lack of impact matters. Diggs carries a partially guaranteed $28 million cap hit, a heavy figure for a Patriots organisation already facing difficult roster decisions. While one game does not erase years of elite production, disappearing in a Super Bowl debut inevitably sharpens scrutiny.

Cardi B, mixed signals, and a noisy Super Bowl weekend

While Diggs struggled to leave his mark on the field, attention also turned to his relationship with Cardi B, as their Super Bowl week appearances fuelled fresh speculation.

Both were present at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, but fans were quick to note moments that suggested distance rather than unity.

The scrutiny began a day earlier at Fanatics’ Super Bowl party on Saturday, February 7. During a brief interview, Cardi B raised eyebrows when asked to share an “inspiring message” for Diggs ahead of the game. Her response was blunt and fleeting.

“Good luck,” she said, before walking away.

The brevity stood out, particularly given Cardi B‘s otherwise visible role throughout Super Bowl weekend. She was among the celebrities featured in Bad Bunny‘s onstage casita during the halftime show, dancing to “Yo Perreo Sola” alongside Alix Earle, Jessica Alba, Pedro Pascal, Karol G, Young Miko, and David Grutman.

Even that appearance was brief. Cardi B appeared to leave the stadium before the final whistle, later posting a video on her Instagram Stories showing herself in the back of a car listening to Bad Bunny as the game concluded.

Social media activity only added to the intrigue. Reports circulated that Diggs and Cardi B had unfollowed each other online, a move that fans quickly dissected. Yet the picture remained complicated. After the Super Bowl, Diggs shared a photo dump from the night, and Cardi B responded publicly in the comments.

“EIGHT,” she wrote, alongside heart and bones emojis.
