The Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight left the boxing world in shock and outrage as the internet personality turned boxer defeated the former heavyweight champion of the world Friday night at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the Dallas Cowboys.
What promised to be the “fight of the century” and the first boxing match streamed live by Netflix turned out to be somewhat of a disappointment as Tyson (58 years old) struggled in the ring against a much younger Paul (27 years old).
Aside from the disappointment caused by the main match, some boxing fans were much interested on what happened outside the ring, particularly on one side of the stands where a woman threw a perfect punch to a man that was sitting one row behind her.
The punch had some fans shocked and excited to see more, but the altercation didn’t escalate. Social media users had some words for it, though. “I’m gonna say yeah. She did that and kept her top up, that’s a skill.” wrote user leslie. “Wish she could stretch the punch abit more.” replied Luka77Mavs.
“He was poking the bear and the bear socked him… Maybe he learned a lesson.” added Robin Lynn Daniels. “She’s lucky he had enough restraint not to punch back.” noted user Tiffany.
Video of the fight causes controversy
Some fans are wondering if Mike Tyson was paid to lose to Jake Paul after a video on social media shows The Baddest Man on the Planet apparently holding back on Friday before losing via unanimous decision.
Experts and fans are wondering if part of the conditions for Tyson to claim US$ 20 million in prize winnings were that he could not knock out Paul and lose, as some claim the event was rigged in the internet sensations’ favor.
Either way, the fight left a bad taste on many fans’ mouth and some people called out Paul for fighting a man that’s close to 60 years old. Now the boxing world is waiting to see who’s gonna be Paul’s next rival and they hope that whoever he is, they show a better fight that what Tyson showed Friday night.
