The alien Wembanyama displays all his superpowers

Victor Wembanyama, one of the most dominant players in the NBA today, led another outstanding performance in the San Antonio Spurs’ victory over the Orlando Magic (112-103) that confirms the Texas team in second place in the Western Conference (33-16) as a real power alternative to the reigning champions Oklahoma City Thunder (39-11)

The 7ft 4in, 24-year-old French giant was largely to blame, even in a game that was difficult for his team, as it started five hours late after they were caught in a storm in Charlotte, where they had lost on Saturday (111-106). They were hit by a snowstorm (12 inches of snow fell) and to make matters worse they suffered a mechanical problem on the flight

The alien flew despite playing injured

Wembanyama, who was suffering from a severe pain in his left calf, did not receive the go-ahead from the doctors to play until half an hour before the start of the game.

That did not prevent the French alien from displaying all his superpowers to lead his team’s victory with 25 points (7/9 t2, 0/4 t3 and 11/15 tl), eight rebounds, two assists, four steals and five blocks, showing himself to be absolutely unbalanced in the 28 minutes he played.

The Spurs, who were without guard Stephon Castle (left adductor problems), also had contributions from Devin Vassell (16+2+3), De’Aaron Fox (16+2+3), Julian Champagnie (11+8) and backup Keldon Johnson (14+10).

Orlando, without magic

The Magic, eighth in the East (25-23), put up a fight at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, especially in the second quarter (23-40) thanks to Desmond Bane (25+4+4) and Paolo Banchero (19+10+4), but they gave up in the other quarters. They were the only ones who avoided a wider defeat marked by another unbalancing performance from Wembanyama, who plays in another league
