Guess who’s back? Ladies and gentleman, Terry Francona has come back to Major League Baseball and it is to be the manager of a team that has fallen short as of late and honestly, they needed something to be happy about, as the Cincinnati Reds will be his new team.
After leaving the Cleveland Guardians a year ago because of health reasons, the longtime Boston Red Sox skipper was reportedly very happy to return to a baseball dugout for next season, as he is now paying attention to his rivals in the National League that are playing in the postseason.
Francona will replace David Bell, who was fired by Cincinnati just before the 2-24 season ended in what was his sixth season with the team. Bell had 409 wins and 456 losses with the team.
A winning manager
Terry Francona played for the Cincinnati Reds in 1987 batting .227 with three home runs and he produced 12 runs in 102 games played. However, his career as manager has been way better than that.
He has won nearly 2,000 games, as he has a 1,950-1,672 record over a 23-year career as a skipper, one that started with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1997 and it ended in 2000, and everyone remembers his run with the Red Sox from 2004 until 2011 winning multiple World Series.
He was the Guardians manager for a long time as well, as he spent a tenure that lasted from 2013 until 2023 taking the team to a World Series. The Reds wish that a similar run will happened with him in control.
