Terence Crawford’s potential next opponent is already scared: “It would be very, very difficult”

It hasn’t even been a week since Terence Crawford stunned Canelo Alvarez and became undisputed in a third weight class, cementing his legacy as arguably the best boxer of his generation. Even before the fight happened, a report came out that Crawford likely would go back down to a lower weight class even if he beat Alvarez.

While that still seems like the most plausible move for “Bud“, rumors have already been running rampant about potential opponents for the newly crowned king at 168 pounds. David Benavidez has been floated as a possibility by promoter Turki Alalshikh himself, while Hamzah Sheeraz has practically put himself in the front of the line in the division. While Sheeraz is a stone cold killer, he’s also not overly thrilled with the idea of fighting Crawford.

Hamzah Sheeraz doesn’t favor himself in a potential Terence Crawford fight

Sheeraz gave an interview this week where he was asked about the possibility of fighting Crawford. Sheeraz believes Bud will stay in the weight class, at least for his next fight, but it doesn’t sound like Sheeraz would be confident heading into that bout.

“It would be very difficult. It would be very, very difficult, because he has shown that he can adapt to any style. I don’t think he has ever had a problem in the ring… To beat someone like that, you need to have one of them days in your career where God helps you.“

It’s extremely high praise from a boxer who stands at 6-foot-3 and has knocked out 16 of his last 17 opponents (one was an RTD). If Sheeraz isn’t confident in a potential bout against Crawford, then no one should be; except maybe Benavidez.
