In just one week, what Turki Alalshikh is calling the “fight of the century” will take place. While there have been boxing bouts with more hype than this one, no one can deny that pitting Canelo Alvarez against Terence Crawford will be a spectacle. They may not be in their true primes, but both boxers can still deliver the goods and are still considered two of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.
The onus will likely be on Crawford to put pressure on Alvarez on fight night. It won’t be easy, as “Bud” is moving up two weight classes in order to face the Mexican superstar. Crawford has looked better than Alvarez in their respective recent fights, but Canelo remains the favorite as the event nears. Many people believe in Crawford, though, and that includes Alalshikh.
Turki Alalshikh to Terence Crawford: “Deliver the job” against Canelo
A video surfaced on Saturday of Crawford speaking with the promoter during a training session. The boxer tells Alalshikh that he appreciates what he’s doing for him and that he’s grateful for the opportunity. Turki responded in vintage fashion: “You must deliver the job“.
The odds are stacked against Crawford, but the unbeaten boxing legend remains among the best in the world. Alvarez has seemed unbeatable by anyone who isn’t much bigger than him, but Crawford is a world class fighter.
On September 13, it will all come to a head in Las Vegas, Nevada.
