It is no surprise the great desire of Terence Crawford in a fight against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez for 2025, to the point that Sheikh Turki Al-Sheikh had a run-in with Saul a couple of months ago on social networks for belittling his proposal. Everything seemed that this was fading away, but things may change.
According to several sources, negotiations could resume next year, as Turki wants to fix that exchange of posts on X he had with the Mexican.
He wants the fight yes or yes
In an interview with Carl Froch on Froch on Fighting’s YouTube channel, Crawford is adamant that the fight has to happen, despite the weight differences.
“Canelo is a big, strong fighter, he’s a great boxer, a future Hall of Famer. But that’s why we’re here, to leave a legacy that will outlive us,” he said
He was also asked about what tactics he would use against the Mexican: “I don’t want to say that I will stand in front of him when maybe I would have to box him. I’m the kind of fighter that I make adjustments on the fly,” Crawford said.
On the other hand, Canelo is not thinking about boxing right now
Last Thursday, December 5, the Mexican champion, together with his brother Ricardo, opened a branch in the United States of their tacos ‘El pastor del Rica’ this time it was in Chula Vista, California.
In a press conference, Canelo was asked about a possible clash with Terence Crawford, and the Mexican responded that he does not rule it out, although for now he is focused on other projects.
“I’m currently focused on other things. I’m enjoying my family. I’m not thinking about boxing at the moment. Maybe in January we’ll start talking about it,” Canelo told the media.
However, he does not rule out the possibility of reconciling with Turki Al-Sheikh, as this is what he said when asked if he would work with the Arab sheikh: “I never say no to business. So if it’s business for me, I’m open to talk, no matter what happens”.
