Terence Crawford achieved a historic victory against Canelo Alvarez on an epic night in Las Vegas. However, what has resonated beyond the ring is not only his triumph, but the blunt statement that this could have been the last fight of his career.

In an interview with TMZ Sports, the big winner of the weekend spoke about the historic fight, his retirement and much more. Crawford is in the spotlight in the boxing and sporting world, so he takes the opportunity to analyze his career and everything that is to come.

It wasn’t Crawford’s toughest fight

Despite the magnitude of the event, Crawford was emphatic in stating that the fight was not the most challenging. In the interview, the boxer stated: “I wouldn’t say it was the toughest fight of my career, but it was definitely the biggest”.

“It’s a fact. Terence Crawford is the best boxer of this generation”

The victory, which was decided relatively comfortably on the judges’ scorecards (116-112, 115-113, 115-113), catapulted him to legendary status in front of more than 70,000 fans at Allegiant Stadium and millions of viewers on Netflix.

With an impressive unbeaten record of 42 wins and 31 knockouts, Crawford had no hesitation when questioned about his legacy. When asked if he is the best of his generation, he confidently replied: “It’s a fact. Terence Crawford is the best boxer of this generation and one of the greatest of all time in the sport of boxing.”

Is retirement approaching?

The big question now hanging over Crawford’s future is retirement. Although his victory over Canelo cemented his status in history, “Bud” was calm and satisfied with his career

“Absolutely. You know, if I had to hang up the gloves right now, I’d definitely be satisfied. You know, for all my achievements and the things I’ve done in the sport of boxing. Yes,”

In addition to a legacy-defining victory, Crawford earned a considerable purse. However, his answer to the question about what plans he had to buy something special was one of the most revealing: “No, I have everything I need. I have everything I need.”
