Teoscar Hernandez was born on October 15, 1992, in the Dominican Republic. He currently plays for the Los Angeles Dodgers and, as of Friday, October 24, is competing in the Fall Classic with the Los Angeles team against the Toronto Blue Jays, who overpowered them 11-4.

He has distinguished himself in Major League Baseball for his tremendous power at the plate, as well as for his reliable defense in the outfield. Beyond his athleticism, Hernandez has also earned a reputation for his easy rapport with fans, often connecting with them moments before stepping into the batter’s box.

Teoscar Hernandez arrives in MLB

In 2011, Teoscar Hernandez signed with the Houston Astros as an international free agent. That same year, he joined the organization’s summer league team. By 2012, he was playing in the Gulf Coast League and for the Lexington Legends, the Class A affiliate in the South Atlantic League.

He appeared in 53 games that year. In 2013, he played for the Class-A Quad City River Bandits, and during the offseason, he joined the Toros del Este in the Dominican Winter League.

Between 2015 and 2016, Hernandez played for Double-A Corpus Christi. In August 2016, he was called up to the Astros’ major league roster, where he stayed until season’s end. During that stint, he hit .230 with four home runs and 11 RBIs in 41 games. However, he failed to secure a permanent spot and was sent back to the minors.

Teoscar Hernandez heads to the Blue Jays, Mariners, and Dodgers

In 2017, Hernandez was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays. Over the next few seasons, he gradually earned his place, though he continued to bounce between the majors and minors. By 2020, he had solidified himself as a key player and an everyday starter for the Jays.

On November 16, 2022, he was traded from Toronto to the Seattle Mariners. In 2023, he earned a $14 million salary, though he had hoped for $16.5 million. After that season, Hernandez became a free agent and left Seattle.

On January 12, 2024, he signed a $24 million deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The change of scenery worked wonders, he was selected for the All-Star Game that same year and went on to win the Home Run Derby.

Teoscar Hernandez’s total net worth

As expected, his earnings have grown steadily throughout his career, placing him in a strong financial position. According to Spotrac, Hernandez signed a contract extension in January worth $66 million, which includes a $23 million signing bonus and an annual salary of $22 million. All $66 million is guaranteed.

In 2025, he will earn a total of $13,308,212, bringing his estimated net worth to $80,522,916.
