In an industry filled with iconic collaborations that never saw the light of day, from Michael Jackson and Prince to David Bowie and Elvis Presley, a missed opportunity between two of today’s biggest stars is now added to the list. We’re talking about Taylor Swift and Lil Nas X.
Speaking at the 2025 GLAAD Media Awards, the “Old Town Road” hitmaker shared that Swift personally invited him to contribute a verse to a song, but despite the incredible opportunity, he ultimately couldn’t “catch a vibe.”
“We were working on something,” Lil Nas X told E! News’ Francesca Amiker. “She offered to let me try a verse on something, but I couldn’t catch a vibe for it, so it didn’t happen.”
Lil Nas X is a Swiftie at heart
Though some fans were disappointed by the revelation, the rapper had nothing but praise for Swift, acknowledging her success and influence in the music industry. “I’m proud of my girl. I love the album. She’s been doing her thing. She’s at the very tippety top. I’m thankful that she even considered me,” he added.
Despite the missed opportunity, Lil Nas X hinted that a future collaboration could still be in the cards, sending fans into a frenzy. “When it happens… Global. World. Tay-Tay and Nassy,” he teased.
For now, Lil Nas X is focused on his highly anticipated album, Dreamboy, set for release this summer, while Swift continues her chart domination and global superstardom.
Taylor is a spotlight magnet
Beyond her music, Swift has also remained a headline magnet for her high-profile romance with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. The couple has been at the center of pop culture conversations over the past year, with Swift frequently spotted at Chiefs games supporting Kelce throughout his historic NFL season.
As both stars dominate their respective industries, music lovers can only hope that the next time Swift and Lil Nas X cross paths creatively, their collaboration will finally come to fruition.
