Taylor Swift refuses to perform at Super Bowl halftime show: ‘She doesn’t want to do it’

Taylor Swift has decided to hold off on headlining the Super Bowl halftime show until her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, retires from football.

While fans have long wanted Swift to take center stage at the NFL’s biggest event, she remains committed to supporting Kelce on the sidelines rather than performing.

Swift’s commitment to Kelce comes first

Swift, who has been dating Kelce for nearly two years, was in attendance at this year’s Super Bowl, where she watched Kendrick Lamar’s halftime performance. However, despite growing speculation, she is not ready to accept the gig while Kelce is still an active player.

“Taylor wants to be there cheering on Travis, not performing,” a source told the Daily Mail.

“As long as he’s playing, the Chiefs have a chance to be in the game, and she doesn’t want to take away from that moment.”

Before her relationship with Kelce, another factor prevented her from headlining-Pepsi’s long-running sponsorship of the halftime show. Due to her endorsement deal with Coca-Cola, performing under a competing brand was not an option.

Now that Apple Music has taken over sponsorship, the opportunity is open, but Swift’s focus remains on Kelce’s career.

Kelce, 34, recently admitted he is considering retirement after the Chiefs’ 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. After 13 seasons in the NFL, the wear and tear of the game is weighing on him. Though he is reportedly leaning toward continuing, a final decision is expected before the next season.

If Kelce retires soon, Swift could headline Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, California, in 2025. If he continues playing, she may have to wait until 2027 in Inglewood or 2028 in Atlanta for her chance.

While Swift has not yet been in official talks with the NFL or Roc Nation, sources say she is a top contender for the show whenever she is ready.

“If Taylor wants it, she gets it,” an insider revealed.

“The NFL knows it would be a massive win.”

Though Swift has expressed a preference for performing in Nashville, she is open to other locations. For now, however, her priority remains supporting Kelce-meaning fans will have to wait a little longer for her Super Bowl moment.
