Taylor Swift has given her fans a new reason to mark their calendars, and it comes at a moment when the public’s attention is equally glued to her high-profile engagement to Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce and questions about his NFL future.
On March 2, Swift’s team revealed that she will issue a limited edition 7-inch vinyl of her track “Elizabeth Taylor” for Record Store Day on April 18, joining her history of special releases tied to the annual celebration of independent record shops. Meanwhile, the music video will premiere on Tuesday, March 10.
The single, taken from her 2025 album The Life of a Showgirl, will be pressed on a distinctive Cry My Eyes Violet glitter vinyl and include two versions of the song.
“Elizabeth Taylor” originally debuted earlier this month on radio and streaming platforms and has been poised as the next major single for the Grammy-winning artist.
The announcement gives Swift fans, known for their meticulous attention to release timelines, a significant date to anticipate as spring approaches.
For Swift, whose 2025 album The Life of a Showgirl dominated the charts following its October release, this marks another chapter in an era shaped just as much by her personal life as her music.
At the same time, attention on her engagement to Kelce, and what comes next for the Chiefs’ tight end, continues to simmer.
Kelce’s NFL future looms large as offseason nears
While Swift is setting musical benchmarks, Kelce has been tight-lipped on a decision about his football career.
The 36-year-old’s two-year contract with the Chiefs has expired, and NFL free agency officially opens March 11, prompting speculation about whether he’ll return to Kansas City or step away from the game.
Part of the backdrop to that decision involves his interests off the field, including his engagement to Swift and their widely discussed plans to wed sometime in 2026, although no official date has ever been confirmed by the couple.
Speculation has swirled around a potential June wedding, tied in part to Swift’s longtime affinity for the number 13. Swift was born on Dec. 13 and often uses the figure in her public branding.
Kelce has remained publicly noncommittal on retirement, even as former players and insiders weigh in. One longtime NFL friend suggested Kelce may return for another season to avoid ending his career on a downturn after the Chiefs’ 2025 campaign.
Meanwhile, voices around the organization, including teammate Chris Jones, have expressed skepticism about the idea that Kelce could walk away, suggesting a comeback is more likely.
Kelce is a future Hall of Famer whose presence defines the franchise’s offense and cultural footprint.
Whether he suits up again or turns his focus toward wedding planning and life outside the sport, his decision will cause a shift throughout the NFL.
