The Kansas City Chiefs‘ hopes for a historic three-peat were shattered on Super Bowl Sunday, as they suffered a 22-40 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Among the thousands watching from the stands was Taylor Swift, cheering on her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, in what turned out to be a disappointing night for Chiefs Kingdom.
However, Swifties refused to be disheartened, finding a creative silver lining in the Eagles‘ victory-one rooted in Swift‘s own music and past loyalties.
Swifties celebrate the Eagles’ win through her lyrics
Even though her relationship with Kelce has linked her closely to Kansas City, longtime fans of Taylor Swift know that she grew up a Philadelphia Eagles supporter. And they didn’t forget.
Following the game, many fans took to X to share lyrics from Swift‘s song “gold rush”, which references the Eagles: “I see me padding ‘cross your wooden floors / With my Eagles t-shirt hanging from the door.”
Fans turned Swift‘s musical nod to the Eagles into a humorous celebration of the team’s Super Bowl victory.
“Congratulations, Taylor Swift, on your second Super Bowl win in a row!” one fan joked, referencing the Chiefs‘ victory in 2024.
Another added: “Taylor Swift‘s home state wins the Super Bowl! Pennsylvania forever!” another admirer posted.
While Swift’s relationship with Kelce has naturally aligned her more with Kansas City, her Philadelphia roots run deep. Before dating Kelce, Swift was spotted multiple times wearing Eagles gear, and her music has immortalized her connection to the team.
Donald Trump reacts to Taylor Swift getting booed
Super Bowl 2025 was also notable for an unexpected moment involving Taylor Swift and President Donald Trump.
During the game, Swift was reportedly booed by sections of the crowd, a moment that Trump wasted no time amplifying.
Taking to Truth Social, Trump reshared a post that read: “Trump gets massive cheers at the Super Bowl while Taylor Swift gets booed. The world is healing!”
The former president-who has been at odds with Swift for years-was in attendance at Caesars Superdome, joined by his children, including Ivanka and Eric Trump.
