Taylor Swift confesses that Andy Reid played Cupid with Travis Kelce and was crucial in her decision to date the Chiefs’ TE

Taylor Swift has revealed that the Kansas City Chiefs head coach, Andy Reid, played an unexpected yet decisive role in the early days of her relationship with tight end, Travis Kelce.

The 14-time Grammy winner confirmed that the 66-year-old’s endorsement was instrumental in convincing her to meet the three-time Super Bowl champion, as they celebrate two years of dating in 2025.

Reid‘s role followed Kelce‘s widely publicized comments on the same podcast in 2023, which Swift referred to as “the shooting your shot heard ’round the world.”

Afterward, she said she was approached by “a lot of people” who vouched for Kelce, including Reid, whose long-standing friendship with Swift’s father, Scott, gave the coach a direct connection.

“Whatever Andy Reid says, we’re gonna stand by. He said it, that’s what happened,” Swift said during Wednesday’s episode of the New Heights podcast, leading to Kelce to quip, “‘Cupid,’ ‘Big Red.’ It’s all the same.”

Swift then said, “There were a lot of kind of people whispering in my ear about you, and like, actually, that’s not normal.

“There are people willing to just go to bat for you, and be like, ‘You don’t understand. This guy is incredible.'”

Ultimately, Reid‘s recommendation influenced her decision to go on a first date with Kelce and now in August 2025, there are talks of a potential engagement being lined up for the future.

Reid poised for Kansas City switch-up ahead of Seattle Seahawks-Chiefs clash

While Reid‘s off-field matchmaking has drawn attention, his on-field decisions are also in focus as ahead of the Chiefs‘ preseason Week 2 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, the veteran coach signaled he may deviate from his usual approach to starter playing time.

The comments came after the Chiefs concluded training camp at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri. During his final camp press conference, held on the team’s Military Appreciation Day.

“I’m still kind of figuring out who’s going to play, not play, that whole deal,” Reid told reporters Wednesday. “So, there’s a chance I sit a couple of starters, or at least be short with them.

“We want to make sure we get a good look at these young guys, so we’ll just see how it all rolls going forward.”

Asked specifically about quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Reid indicated he may rest him entirely. “There’s a good chance he doesn’t [play].”

The potential shift could also extend into the third preseason game, traditionally reserved for roster bubble evaluations rather than starter appearances.

Reid emphasized that the priority is giving general manager Brett Veach and the coaching staff enough film on younger players competing for final roster spots, of which they need to fill 53 places.
