Taylor Swift’s presence at the Super Bowl LIX took an unexpected turn when sections of the crowd booed the global pop icon, and the incident could have long-term implications for her relationship with Travis Kelce as her insiders call for her to ditch the NFL star.
Swift’s furore into football saw the NFL immediately capitalize on her star power but fans quickly began irritated by seeing the 35-year-old popstar on their televisions for a handful of seconds at a time.
So now she is viewed as an almost-pantomime-like villain from rivals of the Kansas City Chiefs, only made worse by her relationship with the three-time Super Bowl winning tight end and her friends suggest now it’s time to quit rather than stick.
Concerns from the inner circle are surrounding concerns Kelce is impacting her career and some particularly close to the singer believe it may be time to establish clearer boundaries between her professional image and her personal life.
However, that’s despite speculation only continuing to grow about a possible engagement later this year.
Insiders also suggest their relationship may be facing its first real public challenge, believing the relationship is being overexposed and subsequently leading to criticism from both Swift’s fanbase and some Chiefs supporters.
The Super Bowl boos, which some say were playful jabs at her past support for the notoriously rowdy Philadelphia Eagles, have raised concerns about how closely Swift is aligning herself with Kelce’s career.
“Up until now, Taylor and Travis have been the ultimate power couple, shining together in the limelight,” a source revealed to radaronline.com. “But whispers are swirling that maybe they’ve hit a bit of a snag.
“Apparently, her team is worried they’ve been overselling the relationship. Sources say it’s been a tough pill for both of them to swallow, leading to some pressure to keep their work lives separate.”
Kelce criticism as Chiefs struggle
On the football side, Kelce himself has not been immune to criticism and that, again, has also been linked to his romance with the Eras Tour star as some Chiefs fans believe she is a distraction.
That narrative particularly spiked after the team’s Super Bowl loss to the Eagles on February 9, with Kelce producing an underwhelming, adding fuel to claims that he was not as focused as he should have been during the season.
“Travis, who’s been basking in the glow of his romance with Taylor, has caught some backlash for not giving his full focus to the team,” the source continued. “The vibe seems to be shifting.
“And insiders suggest both stars might need to safeguard their brands. Now, her team’s advising her to lay low for a while, and it’s got to sting a bit, like a sense of guilt she hasn’t earned.
“This whole situation is creating a weird tension between her and Travis, especially since this is their first real bump in the road.”
To be fair to him, the NFL star was not the only Chiefs player off-color on the night. None of them held a candle to the Eagles’ offensive and defensive line and it took until the third quarter for them to even score a touchdown.
Patrick Mahomes, the star quarterback of the side, was sacked six times and tossed a pick-six on the night in New Orleans. His stat line is solid at a glance, but he only came to life when the Eagles gave their rotational players a shot at the Super Bowl experience in garbage time.
