Taylor Swift is reportedly distancing herself from Blake Lively following a dramatic legal dispute that has drawn the singer into a feud she never asked to be part of.
According to sources speaking to the Daily Mail, the Grammy-winning artist is now reevaluating her long-standing friendship with the actress after being unwillingly linked to a high-stakes legal battle involving actor and director Justin Baldoni.
“Right now, if Taylor had one wish it would be that she never met Blake,” one insider alleged, pointing to the recent turmoil as the final straw in a relationship that has reportedly been fraying for some time.
“Although there have been good times during their relationship, the issues now concerning the Baldoni case have outweighed them.”
The fallout stems from a $400 million lawsuit filed by Baldoni, who claims that Lively leveraged her high-profile friendship with Swift to assert influence on the set of It Ends With Us.
The legal action also involved Lively‘s husband Ryan Reynolds, adding more pressure to an already complex situation.
Tensions flare as Swift is dragged into legal battle
While Swift was never involved in the production of It Ends With Us, her name became entangled in the dispute after Baldoni’s legal team alleged that Lively’s attorneys had threatened to release private messages between the actress and the pop star.
The intent, according to the filing, was to pressure Swift into publicly siding with Lively. The claim was quickly denied by Lively’s legal team, with lead counsel Michael Gottlieb calling the allegations “cowardly sourced to supposed anonymous sources, and completely untethered from reality.”
Even so, the controversy appears to have opened Swift’s eyes to long-standing issues in her friendship with the Gossip Girl star.
“When Taylor looks back at their friendship, she realizes it wasn’t worth all the stress Blake put her through. She can now see all the red flags that should have been a warning to her,” the source continued.
“Taylor’s relieved the relationship is over. She put up with Blake‘s antics for too long because she’s a loyal friend. It took the It Ends With Us drama to finally get her to pull the trigger on it.”
Swift‘s inner circle is also reportedly reacting. Her boyfriend Travis Kelce, tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, recently unfollowed Reynolds on Instagram, signaling public support for Swift’s decision to cut ties.
“Taylor and Travis are disgusted with Blake and Ryan and how they tried to use Taylor in their fight against Justin Baldoni,” the insider claimed. “They’re vowing their break from the acting couple is permanent.”
As speculation mounted, Swift’s team issued a firm rebuttal of any implication of involvement in the film.
“Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions,” her publicist said.
“She did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history.”
On May 23, it was confirmed that Baldoni‘s legal team dropped the subpoena issued to Swift, having “voluntarily received” the information they needed, according to a source quoted by Page Six.
Though none of the key players – Swift, Lively, or Kelce – have commented publicly since, insiders suggest this episode marks a definitive end to one of pop culture’s most high-profile friendships.
