“It’s a lifelong dream come true,” reflected Taylor Fritz after reaching the US Open final. The American player will face world number one Jannik Sinner on Sunday.
Fritz, one of the many players promoted by the ATP as part of the new ‘Next Gen’ generation, entered the circuit at the age of 15, living a life more suited to a seasoned professional.
At 18, he married fellow tennis player Raquel Pedraza (they got engaged during their junior years in Paris). Shortly after, they had a son named Jordan, which led Pedraza to leave the WTA. The couple separated soon after.
Fritz, who had already won the US Open junior title and reached the Roland Garros final – both times against his compatriot Tommy Paul – lived and trained with Paul and Reilly Opelka in Boca Raton, Florida.
Later, he crossed paths with influencer Morgan Riddle, who follows him and shares his daily life at tournaments through TikTok. Fritz was one of the first tennis players to open up his personal life to the public through the Netflix series ‘Break Point.’
With eight ATP tournament wins, Fritz has tennis in his blood. His mother, Kathy May Fritz, reached the WTA ‘top 10’ in 1977. His father, Guy Fritz, was ranked 301st, while his mother reached the ‘top 10’ in July 1977.
Real Madrid Fan
Although he is a big fan of major American sports leagues, Taylor also loves football and supports Manchester United and Real Madrid. He was amazed during his visit to the Santiago Bernabeu and shared a picture on his social media that remains posted to this day.
Investments in Video Games
Fritz has a passion for video games, with Fortnite, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, and World of Warcraft among his favorites. He has also invested in a company that owns a Call of Duty league team, the London Ravens.
