Tavia Hunt’s powerful message welcoming Josh Simmons despite his injury history

Kansas City Chiefs owner and First Lady of Chiefs Kingdom, Tavia Hunt, has extended a warm and encouraging welcome to newly drafted offensive lineman Josh Simmons, despite concerns over his recent injury history.

Her succinct four-word message on social media-“Welcome to the Kingdom @jos5ua”-has resonated deeply with fans and the organization alike.

Simmons, selected 32nd overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, was a standout at Ohio State before a torn left patellar tendon in October 2024 cut his season short.

Prior to the injury, he had an impressive record, allowing zero sacks and just one pressure in six games, earning All-Big Ten Honorable Mention and Midseason All-American honors.

Despite the setback, Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach saw potential in Simmons, stating, “Left tackles don’t typically become free… sometimes it takes one of these scenarios – an injury – for a guy like this to fall.”

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid echoed this sentiment, acknowledging Simmons‘ talent and the team’s strategic move. Reid noted that Simmons would have been a top-five or top-ten pick had it not been for the injury.

He also provided an optimistic update on Simmons‘ recovery, stating that the offensive lineman was ahead of schedule and expected to be ready for training camp, although he would be limited during rookie minicamp and OTAs.

A new chapter for Simmons with the support of Chiefs Kingdom

Tavia Hunt‘s message underscores the Chiefs‘ commitment to supporting their players through challenges.

By publicly welcoming Simmons, she not only boosts his confidence but also reinforces the organization’s ethos of resilience and unity. Her gesture has been met with widespread approval from fans, who appreciate the team’s inclusive and supportive culture.

As Simmons embarks on his professional journey with the Chiefs, the support from the Hunt family and the organization will undoubtedly play a crucial role in his development and integration into the team.

With a strong foundation of encouragement and belief, Simmons has the opportunity to overcome past setbacks and contribute significantly to the Chiefs‘ future successes.
