T-Mobile Arena, which has become one of the most important venues in the boxing world in recent years, announced that it already has a boxing event reserved for Saturday, May 3, 2025.
In recent years, that weekend, when ‘Cinco de Mayo’ is celebrated, has been reserved for one of the most popular boxers in the world of pugilism, the Mexican Saul Canelo Alvarez, so it seems that the fighter will have another defense on that date.
However, Canelo has not announced who his next opponent will be to defend his super middleweight world championship belts.
Canelo’s possible opponents for May 3
After defeating Edgar Berlanga in September 2024, a host of potential Canelo opponents have been mooted, and there has been much controversy surrounding the same issue.
To begin with, the boxing world is crying out for a fight between Canelo and David Benavidez, although that fight seems to have to wait longer.
Benavidez will face David Morrell on February 1 at the same venue, the T-Mobile Arena, to defend his 175-pound world title.
The next on the list of rivals for the Mexican fighter is Terence Crawford, however, there is a big weight difference, as Crawford is in the 154 pounds, that is, two divisions less than Alvarez (super welterweight).
Another potential rival is Cuban fighter William Scull, who earlier this year acknowledged that he is in talks with the Canelo Team.
The Cuban fighter himself shared an image on his Instagram account, in which Scull is seen alongside Canelo, as if announcing that it could be an advance in the negotiations to fight on May 3, a weekend that has traditionally been reserved for Canelo, as part of the Mexican celebrations in the United States.
