Sydney Sweeney might soon be trading her designer gowns for boxing gloves. The Euphoria and The White Lotus actress revealed she’s interested in stepping into the ring for an actual boxing match, and not just for a movie role.
In a recent chat with Sportscasting.com, Sweeney said she would “totally do a charity bout,” calling the idea “so sick.” The 28-year-old actress stars in the upcoming biopic Christy, where she portrays legendary boxer Christy Martin, one of the most influential women in the sport’s history.
While training for the role, Sweeney discovered a real passion for boxing. “There was a moment in the middle of filming where I thought, should I give it all up and fight because I love this?” she told Sportscasting. Martin herself encouraged the idea, even saying she would help sign her up if Sweeney decided to step into the ring.

Sweeney’s preparation for Christy went far beyond memorizing lines. She trained intensely, building strength and discipline over months of boxing sessions and weight training. According to Fox News, she gained roughly 35 pounds of muscle and sometimes trained for up to five hours a day. She even turned her grandmother’s shed into a makeshift gym.
Her effort paid off on screen, but it also gave her a new sense of confidence. “I think what would get me through a fight is that I can take a punch,” Sweeney told MMA Mania. “I wouldn’t quit.”

Sweeney has not revealed any names, but she hinted that fans might be surprised. “It’s a surprise. You’ll have to wait for the pay-per-view,” she teased.
