The anticipated final of the women’s draw at Roland Garros will take place on Thursday and will feature Aryna Sabalenka and Iga SwiatekThe two tennis players who have alternated at the top of the game for the past four years will face each other in one of the semifinals. Sabalenka was the first to do the job after defeating China’s Qinwen Zheng. Swiatek (5) was no less impressive, winning the duel against Elina Svitolina (13), 6-1, 7-5.

Svitolina, with no options in the opening set, was two points away from signing a tie on the scoreboard, with a 5-4 and deuce. She would lose the next three games

For the fifth time in her career, the Pole is among the four best at the French Open, where she has lifted the trophy in four of the last five editions.

Her sequence of 26 triumphs on the Bois de Boulogne courts equals the longest streak of the century in a major, which was held by Serena Williams (US Open 2012 to 2015).

Iga’s current ranking (fifth in the world) means that she will face Sabalenka, the top seed, earlier than expected.
